Air Guard Actively Participates in Drafting Standards for “Green Building Material Assessment: Air Filters”

Contributing to Industry Innovation

On December 13, 2024, the third working meeting for the China Engineering Construction Standardization Association’s standard titled “Green Building Material Assessment: Air Filters” was held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Air Guard Purification Technology Group (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. participated in this meeting as a co-editing unit.

The “Green Building Material Assessment: Air Filters” standard aims to standardize the green building material assessment of air filters and promote the industry towards a more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient direction. The standard covers terms and definitions, evaluation requirements, and evaluation methods, applying to the green building material assessment of air filters used in ventilation, air conditioning, and air purification systems or equipment. In addition, the standard is specifically applicable to the green building material assessment of high-efficiency air filters (HEPA) and ultra-low penetration air filters (ULPA) used in air supply and exhaust purification systems or equipment under normal temperature conditions.

Dr. Deng Gaofeng, the lead editor of the standard, emphasized in his speech the supporting role of green building materials in the development of green buildings. Green building materials are characterized by low energy consumption, low environmental impact, and high performance, which not only help improve building energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality but also play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development and carbon neutrality goals in the construction industry.

Zhao Rui, an engineer from the China Building Research Institute Group Co., Ltd., which is the lead editor unit, briefly introduced the relevant information from the second working meeting of the standard, the outcomes of communications and improvements to the standard content with co-editing units after the meeting, and the key discussion points for this meeting. Delegates had in-depth discussions on the specific content and technical details of the standard.

Zhao Jipeng, Deputy General Manager of Air Guard Purification Technology Group, offered suggestions on the specific evaluation index requirements for air filters, HEPA, and ULPA in green building assessments and potential deviations that may arise during practical use. His insights provided a fresh perspective and practical experience for refining the standard.

The successful hosting of this meeting marks an important step forward in the formulation of the “Green Building Material Assessment: Air Filters” standard. The standard is expected to be released and implemented in 2025. The development of this standard will help regulate the air filter market, promote the application of green building materials, and facilitate the green transformation and sustainable development of the construction industry.

As a driver and practitioner of new productivity in the air purification and filtration industry, Air Guard Purification Technology Group has always been at the forefront of the industry, continuously exploring and innovating. The company actively participates in the drafting and revision of various national, industry, and group standards, contributing to creating a fresher, healthier, and more sustainable indoor air environment for society and building a greener and better future.
