Hazards of Indoor Air Pollution in Commercial Buildings

Indoor air quality in commercial buildings (such as offices, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, etc.) directly affects occupants’ health, comfort, and work efficiency. A Harvard University study found that reducing indoor concentrations of particulate matter (PM2.5) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) significantly improves employees’ cognitive functions—including decision-making ability and information processing speed.
Particulate Matter Pollution
Outdoor haze, vehicle exhaust, and printer dust can cause respiratory diseases and allergic reactions. Prolonged exposure may trigger cardiovascular issues.
Microbial Contamination
Bacteria, viruses, and mold can lead to influenza, allergies, and asthma—particularly severe in hotels.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Emissions from building materials, furniture, and cleaners cause headaches and nausea. Long-term exposure may damage the liver and nervous system.
Odor Pollution
In environments with better air quality, employees’ cognitive function scores improved by 61%.

Air Guard CleanSmooth Series: Reliable Technical Solutions for Commercial Buildings

The Air Guard CleanSmooth series of air purification filters addresses indoor air pollution hazards in commercial buildings. Our filters adopt multi-layer filtration designs to efficiently remove particulates, microbes, and VOCs, ensuring air quality meets international standards (e.g., ISO 16890, EN 1822).
Key Features:
Multi-Layer Filtration System
Integrated with fresh air systems to maintain indoor air freshness and enhance customer shopping experiences.
Combination of Diverse Filters
Gradual filtration of particles by Air Guard Prefilters (G4), Medium-Efficiency Filters (F7-F9), and HEPA Filters (H13/H14) based on particle size.
High-Efficiency Antibacterial & Antiviral Capability
HEPA filters and antibacterial/anti-allergy materials effectively intercept bacteria, viruses, and mold, reducing disease transmission risks.
Fresh Air System Integration
Ensures indoor air circulation and cleanliness, reduces carbon dioxide concentration, and enhances air freshness.

Air Guard’s Practical Application Scheme and Advantages: Case Analysis of Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank:

Case Background
Air Guard installed its self-developed integrated fragrance combination (antibacterial, antiviral, high-efficiency, low-resistance) air purification filter for the central air conditioning return air vents at the Wangniudun Sub-branch of Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank. The introduction of this innovative product aims to address poor indoor air quality in the bank’s business hall, particularly considering the space’s relatively enclosed, densely populated, and high-traffic characteristics.
Air Quality Challenges Faced by the Bank
As a public space with frequent foot traffic, the bank’s business hall faces not only conventional air pollution issues such as PM2.5 and VOC (volatile organic compounds) gaseous pollutants but also special contamination from bacteria carried by banknotes. On average, each one-yuan RMB note carries up to 1.18 million bacteria, which suspend and accumulate in the air, leading to a rise in harmful microbial concentration and increasing the risk of epidemic diseases spreading through the air. Prolonged exposure to such an environment may damage the respiratory and cardiovascular health of staff and customers.

Solution Introduction
To address the above issues, Air Guard proposed a solution: equipping the central air conditioning system in public places with an “N95 mask.” Specifically, this involves installing air filters at the return air vents of the central air conditioning system to intercept PM2.5, VOC gaseous pollutants, and harmful microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and mold. This reduces the concentration of harmful substances in indoor air, minimizes human inhalation of toxic materials, and thereby lowers the risk of disease transmission through the air, protecting public respiratory health. Air Guard’s air purification filters for commercial buildings feature:

High-efficiency Filtration: Achieves multi-stage filtration through the special structure of filter media, with an effective filtration area 2.5 to 3 times that of ordinary filters. Tested according to GB/T 18801 standards, the filtration efficiency reaches 99% after 60 minutes of cyclic filtration.
Low-resistance Design: Adopts a unique pleated design for air circulation, ensuring minimal resistance during operation without affecting indoor air flow or comfort.
Antibacterial & Antiviral: Intercepts over 99% of common pathogens such as E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and H1N1 influenza virus.
Plant Fragrance Slow-release Technology: Incorporates patented plant fragrance slow-release technology to effectively control fragrance concentration, extend release time, and create a pleasant and comfortable experience.

Implementation Effects
Since implementation, Air Guard’s air purification filters have significantly improved indoor air quality at the Wangniudun Sub-branch of Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank, creating a healthier working environment. Staff work efficiency has increased, and customer satisfaction has followed suit. Additionally, reducing the risk of diseases caused by poor air quality has indirectly lowered medical costs and absenteeism rates.
